Turkish Lahmacun Recipe
The history of Lahmacun goes back to ancient times, it has a history of approximately 5000 years. It spread from the eastern regions of Turkey to the whole country after the 1960s. The most delicious form of lahmacun is cooked in a stone oven, but you’ll also like my recipe.
How to make Lahmacun: ingredients
For the dough: 2.5 cups bread flour, 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon salt.
For the toppings: 250 g meat mince, 1 long green pepper, 1 red pepper, 1 onion, 1 cup fresh parsley leaves, 1 tomato, 2 tablespoon tomato paste, 2 garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes
How to make Lahmacun: Cooking
To prepare the dough, mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Make a hole in the middle, add the water and knead all the ingredients until the dough gets soft. Cover the dough with a cloth and set aside to rest. First I combine peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes in a food processor. Then I add parsley and pulse again. I take this mixture and all other ingredients together to another bowl. Now, ee divide the dough into 8 small pieces and roll it out into a very thin and round shape. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 220 degrees from the bottom. Spread the topping evenly over each dough with your fingers. Put the lahmacun in a tray on the bottom shelf of the oven. It will be ready in just 5 to 8 minutes.
How to make Lahmacun: Serving
We usually serve it with onions, lemon and tomatoes. Put them in lahmacun and make a wrap. Ayran is the best choice to drink beside lahmacun. Ayran is made of yoghurt, water and salt.
